In 2021, Israeli computer scientist Avi Wigderson and Hungarian mathematician László Lovász won the Abel Prize. The Abel Prize is seen as the 'Nobel Prize in mathematics' and has been awarded annually since 2003. Avi Wigderson and László Lovász won the prize for their pioneering contributions in the fields of theoretical computer science and discrete mathematics. One of these contributions was the introduction of theoretical computer science and discrete mathematics as central parts of modern mathematics. During the webinar, their work will be highlighted and they will speak about their work themselves.
