It is now 100 years since insulin was discovered as a treatment for diabetes. Since then, diabetes care has come a long way. But what do the next 100 years look like? What can we expect from the upcoming century?

Join real scientists and travel by time machine to the future. Find out how they are working on a stem cell-based treatment for type 1 diabetes and take part in various interactive activities and learn more about diabetes. This activity is organized in cooperation with CORPUS "Journey through the Body" and is part of the CORPUS Kids Academy.

Visitors can participate in different activities that show how scientists are working together to develop a cell therapy for diabetes: 

  • Talk to real scientists about what diabetes is and how it affects your body.  
  • Use augmented reality to see inside a body where the pancreas is located, an important organ that has everything to do with diabetes.  
  • Use a microscope, just like scientists do, to look at cells.  
  • Watch spectacular computer animations to see how the pancreas grows during human development.  
  • See how many cells you can make in 5 minutes to create your own cell therapy from stem cells, in the big floor game "start as a stem cell.  
  • Hear a real scientist's story about how a stem cell therapy for diabetes is created. Find out about the potential of stem cells to create different cells in the body, and how this creates hope for a cell therapy for diabetes. In addition, discover the challenges it presents. 

In short: there is plenty to discover about diabetes and about stem cells on this day! Will we see you at CORPUS on November 19?
