Launch of the Leiden Law Methods Portal. During the launch, we will show you how to use the portal and experts will give an introduction to different empirical research methods.

The principle 'to measure is to know' might not be the first thing that comes to mind when we think about legal research. Yet, during the launch of the Leiden Law Methods Portal, various legal scholars will discuss how they have - and how one can - incorporate the use of empirical research methods and a socio-legal approach in one's legal research to get to a deeper understanding of the actual workings of the law in action. During this 2-hour session we invite everyone to come take a peek into the world of empirical and socio-legal research!

On the 12th of April the Leiden Law Methods Portal will be launched during a festive lunch session between 12 and 14pm at C.020 (Steenschuur 25). The Methods Portal is a helpful tool that provides legal scholars with a broad overview of empirical methods and the (empirical) research phases. During the launch, we will show you how to use the portal and experts will give an introduction to different empirical research methods. The program of the launch is as follows:

12.00 - 12.15 Walk in, grab a sandwich, and get settled

12.15 - 12.30 Welcome and opening by Prof. dr. Maartje van der Woude

12.30 - 12.45: We present -- The Leiden Law Methods Portal

12.45 - 13.30: Panel discussion on the use of The Leiden Law Methods Portal

13.30 - 13.55: Time for Q & A

13.55 -14.00: Closure
