Life skills for young people
- Rijnlands Lyceum Oegstgeest
All young people deserve equal opportunities. That is why it is important that they can cope well with daily and difficult situations. Strengthening their 'life skills' at school, at home, and in the neighbourhood helps them do this.
Life skills, for instance, are about relationship skills to establish friendships and maintain or end relationships. It is about coping well with stress, taking care of yourself, working on your self-image and being able to plan. But also dealing with differences and feeling socially engaged.
We know from research that fostering these skills makes all young people stronger socially and emotionally, reduces behavioural and emotional problems, and improves learning outcomes. In this workshop, after a short joint introduction, we will work in groups with assignments to learn more about life skills.
