Museum De Lakenhal shows planktonium by Jan van Ijken: a magical art film about the life of plankton.
From 26 January, Planktonium by Leiden artist Jan van IJken will be shown in the Auditorium of Museum De Lakenhal. Planktonium is a short, abstract film about the secret life of plankton. These organisms are so small that you cannot see them with the naked eye, but that doesn't make them any less magnificent. In his art film, Van IJken takes you to an unknown universe, inhabited by wonderful creatures that he collected from Dutch waters. The special sound composition was made by the Norwegian artist Jana Winderen.
Museum De Lakenhal recently purchased the work and will screen it as part of European City of Science Leiden 2022. You can watch a preview of Planktonium via this link.
The film is on display during opening hours in the Auditorium in Museum De Lakenhal
At times the film may temporarily not be screened due to other activities in the Auditorium
