The Textile Research Centre in Leiden welcomes everyone with an interest in the history of clothes. Zoom in on eastern Europe and learn all about one of the oldest art forms in the world with the Workshop Hungarian Needlework! Immerse yourself in the world of Hungarian embroidery and learn about the remarkable Hungarian plait stitch. 

Want to learn about something a little closer to home? Listen to a lecture about Dutch regional dress! Different kinds of clothes from different regions all over the Netherlands will be discussed. 

Don't really feel like listening but still curious? Today you can also come take a look at textiles and garments that were recently donated to the TRC. The pieces mostly stem from the Eastern Bloc, specifically Albania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania and North Macedonia.
