How do you find the truth? Partake in a fictive criminal hearing based on a real story from Leiden.

Imagine this: shortly after the death of the 4 year old Suzanna, her mother Hester dies in an unnatural way. The cause of death is fatal combination of several medications. Suzanna's aunt and Hester's sister, Mie, becomes the prime suspect. She gets recognised by a witness and possesses part of the medications that killed Suzanna and Hester. Now, she's the sole heiress to a fortune.

But what does all this "evidence" mean? Did Mie poison her sister and her niece? Or is all of this just an unfortunate series of events?

This question will take centre stage during the public day about truthseeking and most of all, truthfinding. On the 10th of September, you'll be able to find the truth via a fictive criminal hearing and several mini-lectures. You'll get to explore the work and research done by the Institute of Criminal Law and Criminology at Leiden University. In the end, it's up to you to judge the evidence and decide whether Mie is guilty or not.

The public day starts at 13:00 and ends around 16:15. There's an opportunity to get a drink and socialize afterwards.
