In the summer of 2022, the ARS Gallery is filled to the brim with PLANTs. In honor of Leiden City of Science 2022, a themed exhibition will be open from the 9th of July to the 14th of August.

ARS offers several plant-related workshops alongside the exhibition. Some of the workshops are: Workshop Still Life, Build an Animal (for kids), and creating an artwork with a branch.

A small greenhouse will be placed in the courtyard of the ARS Gallery. Artists are supposed to draw inspiration from the growing cuttings and plants behind the glass.

During the creation of this exhibition, ARS members were inspired by plants. Artists have always been intrigued by science. The inspirations that were used during PLANT are very different from each other: algae, rare or regular plants, growth, roots, the Svalbard Global Seed Vault, deforestation, neurosciences, and historical photography techniques.

This exhibition is special in several ways. One of these ways being that ARS members had to work together with artists from other countries during the creation of their work. This resulted in triptychs and collaboratal works in which both artists get to shine.

25 teams (consisting of ARS members and their partners), produced graphics, ceramics, and drawings. There will be a cabinet of curiosities and several installations (including a drawing installation about the transfer of pigment). On August 7th there will be a spoken word show. The show is called "Het gietertje" (the watering can). In the show, poetry willl be expressed through words, visuals and sound.
