In the framework of EU Foreign Policy and Leiden European City of Science 2022, the Institute Français Pays-Baseen organises a series of events dedicated to European universities. Launch on 6 April in Leiden.

The European Commission started in 2017 with the set up of a network of European Universities. This was based on an idea of the French President Emmanuel Macron the network will become the flagship of the European Educational Area.

The network of European universities will help to strengthen the position of a new generation of Europeans and to improve the international competitiveness of higher education in Europe. The European Commission considers that the 'European Universities' network has the potential to significantly enhance the mobility of students and scholars. It can stimulate high and even excellence in education and research by strengthening the link between education, research and innovation.

The panel discussion

Expectations for European universities are high. Are they equipped to meet those expectations? What challenges do they currently face in putting the visions into practice? And how can they help to understand, improve, measure and rebalance the wellbeing of individuals, our own community and society as a whole on the basis of our shared values?

The panel discussion will address these and many more questions. The panel discussion will be in english.
