Plekberaad voor de Toekomst (Local Council of the Future) is a special meeting, in which young Leiden citizens, policy makers and pioneers will work on a better world. In this form of new democracy, we discover what the city will look like in three generations, in 2060.
Together, we will work on the future of this beautiful city.
Is Leiden your place? Then sign up now to join the Plekberaad. This edition, we focus on 'Together - Living'. To ensure that as many perspectives as possible are included, the organisation selects a diverse group of people from the applications.
The participants will set out a joint image of the future and map out the challenges of Leiden. We will also have a look at how these can be transformed into tangible solutions. The meeting is the kick-off for the National Week of Future Generations.
Extra special this edition: Eva Rovers will give a mini lecture! It promises to be a wonderful day, in which Eva shares her insights on her book 'Nu is het aan ons' (Now it's up to us) and her research during the citizens' consultation.
Curious what to expect during the plekberaad? Take a look at the report of the previous edition of 30 June 2022 in the Burcht here. The meeting is part of the Leiden2022 programme New European Bauhaus, a future-oriented programme on sustainability and inclusiveness. The programme is a partner of an international movement within the EU Green Deal and draws inspiration from the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Outcomes will be shared both locally and nationally. Locally, the organisation hopes to contribute content to the dialogue about the future and the role that art and science can play in it. The Future Generations Lab, Ministry of the Future and The Turn Club are working on a scalable and replicable model for resident-driven and place-based long-term policies.
Location: Old V&D at the Aalmarkt
Time: 13.30 - 17.30 hrs.
