Every year the Hortus is open until the late hours on the longest day of the year. Come and enjoy those special flowers that are only full of fragrance in the evening.

Some flowers are more beautiful at night than during the day. For example, some flowers smell more after sunset than before. To allow visitors to experience these special flowers, Hortus is also open in the evenings during the longest day of the year. So come and enjoy these special flowers, the evening atmosphere, but also tasteful music and small-scale performances, good wine and good company at the Hortus Botanicus Leiden.

Tickets

The tickets for the Midsummer Night cost 8 euros for an adult. However, students can often get a discount and if you get there extra early, even cheaper "early bird" tickets may be available. Children between 4 and 12 can enter for 3.50 euros and younger children have free entrance! If you want to be there, go to the Hortus website or order your tickets here.

Please note: The Hortus closes its doors between 18:00 and 19:30 so that the employees can prepare for the event. You also need a Midsummer Night ticket, a standard Hortus ticket is invalid. Smoking is not allowed during the entire event.
