Morse at the Mors!
- Serviceflat Schouwenhove Morskwartier
Experience how much fun Morse code is today! Learn to signal your own name and receive a certificate. There is also a demonstration about Morse signals and receiving.
Morse code and transmission techniques not relevant? Not really! It is still very modern and important. For example, did you know that it is the mother of radio and telephony? Amateur radio operators from the Leiden region are still active worldwide!
The Association for Experimental Radio Research in the Netherlands (VERON) is involved in experimenting with and researching radio communication and has been the association for radio amateurs in the Netherlands since 1945. The Morse alphabet was developed in 1835 by Samuel Morse, but has been adapted and improved over many years through practical experience. For example, the @ sign got its own code. There are still many radio amateurs who broadcast Morse code over the radio.

The activity is free and for everyone, but will give special attention to children who want to learn (about) signals. The activity is in both Dutch and English.
