This afternoon, experts from the University of Applied Sciences Leiden, Leiden University, and the LUMC will take you on a journey through two types of viruses.

Biological viruses — think of the flu and, of course, coronavirus — differ from viruses that make your computer 'sick'. But there are similarities in how they work! Quite a lot, in fact: they both penetrate where you don't want them and they both spread very quickly. They’re also often difficult or impossible to combat, but you can still try to arm yourself: using virus scanners on your computer or a flu shot or vaccine.

At the Rijksmuseum Boerhaave, the experts will give a presentation about viruses in the human body and viruses in computers. There will also be fun experiments with VR glasses, microscopes, and more! (Including a quiz where you can ask all your questions to the experts.)

Want to know more about contagious viruses? The afternoon will also consist of a visit to the exhibition 'Infected! On epidemics past and present.'

Are you between 8 and 12 years old and crazy about viruses? Then we'll see you on February 2 at the Rijksmuseum Boerhaave. Entrance is free. This activity is in Dutch
