Bright Young Minds Sponsors

It is almost here: the Bright Young Minds Week! In no more than two days the streets of Leiden will be filled with young talents.

In last few weeks, a number of parties have emerged to adopt a Bright Young Mind. They sponsor an EU TalentOn team or talent and with that enable the bright minds to meet in Leiden. In this newsmessage we would like to introduce the companies to you!

The Entrepreneurs Association Bio Science Park (OVBSP)

The OVBSP represents the interests of companies and institutions at the Leiden Bio Science Park.It looks after the interests of all companies and study programmes at the Sciencepark in terms of the business climate.

Among other things, the association takes care of connecting members, Bio SciencePark management, supporting and stimulating starting entrepreneurs and promoting the establishment of entrepreneurs who contribute to the Life Science & Health sector. The association also ensures the exchange of vacancies on the park and promotes internships among their members and, of course, entrepreneurship and supporting start-ups with education, training, facilities and coaching

The OVBSP sponsors the EU TalentOn because they believe in young talent. "All our members once started with a brilliant idea and we hope that from the TalentOn, new brilliant ideas will emerge leading to innovations in the Life Science & Health sector," says Hans Rasch, project manager OVBSP.

While OVBSP definitely appreciates all EU missions, the cancer-research project is closest to Life Sciences & Health and they are most looking forward to the solutions and ideas that emerge in that mission.

The OVBSP is very excited about the Bright Young Minds Week and sees the EU TalentOn as a unique experience for the participants. And at the same time an opportunity for entrepreneurs to meet the talents of the future.

reNEW

reNEW is a tripartite collaborative research Center between three internationally leading Institutions: The University of Copenhagen, Leiden University Medical Center and the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute located in Melbourne.

The reNEW project has been made possible through a record stem cell medicine grant of up to €300 million over 10 years from the Novo Nordisk Foundation, an international philanthropic foundation based in Denmark, which focuses on medical treatment and research.

reNEW aims to pave the way for future stem cell-based treatments as well as stimulate a new wave of global investment in stem cell medicine and technologies, and create highly skilled jobs in this advancing medical field.

"We sponsor because the EU TalentOn fits reNEWs’ strategic objectives where young talent and interdisciplinary approaches play an important role"- Mandy Segers, communication and engagement offcer reNEW Leiden.

With reNEW, they want to deliver the next generation of talented young researchers who are educated, trained, and mentored in basic research, clinical translation, and commercial development of stem cell medicine. They believe in building bridges between the research, clinical, regulatory and commercial sector and the community. This is important in order to prepare society for stem cell medicine therapies and deliver translational outcomes, but is also relevant for all the EU Missons. Next to this we all know that young talented people and a multidisciplinary approach are most important for all international missions.

They will keep an eye on all these EU missions, because all proposed solutions will provide them with a learning experience. These missions are big challenges and within reNEW they believe that to create more than the sum of the parts, you will require collaboration, exchange and scientific cohesion.

reNEW thinks the EU TalentOn is a very good initiative because they are convinced that the new generation will bring concrete, out-of-the-box solutions to some of our greatest challenges. They have ambitious goals and hopefully will deliver concrete results in the near future.
