Keukenhof and the Flower Parade: The Netherlands loves tulips. It’s a little ironic considering that the flower is officially from Turkey. “Tulip” is even derived from the Turkish word for “turban”! Tulips not only stand for turbans but also for love — and patriotism, in the case of the Netherlands. The tulip bulb fed many families during the war, and ‘De Zwarte Tulp’ was a television favourite. The colourful flower with a colourful history.
