The Yeti, also known as the Abominable Snowman, is a large ape-like mythical creature that, according to legends, roams the Himalayas. The word 'Yeti' comes from the Tibetan 'yache' meaning 'bear from the rocks'. It is striking that similar myths seem to recur all over the world. For instance, some people in Russia believe in Chuchuna and Americans have Bigfoot. However, the Yeti is worshipped in parts of Tibet as part of a Buddhist movement. Within that movement, there are three different types of Yeti, all of which are seen as a bad omen when they appear.
