SOLIDARITY
Solidarity, according to the Van Dale (the Dutch dictionary), is the consciousness of togetherness and a willingness to bear its consequences. That sounds all well and good, but what exactly does it mean? It comes down to a sense of belonging together. So you can feel solidarity with your family or your group of friends. Usually, however, solidarity is used in the context of nationalities. You feel like a Dutchman and thus you show solidarity with other Dutch people. Or not. With whom do you feel solidarity?
