It is one of the five Chinese elements and it is probably also part of the building you are closest to right now. Wood is everywhere and one of the most important building materials known to man. However, wood has had to be imported to the Netherlands for centuries. The Netherlands has very few trees compared to the forests of Scandinavia and the tropics. So there is an immediate problem. The wood industry is not good for the environment. Chopping and transporting trees can have disastrous consequences for animals, soils, other plants, seas, rivers and even the weather.
