Homesickness can turn into an actual sickness if you’re not careful. People miss a certain place a lot, or they miss a certain feeling. This can cause so much stress that it can actually make someone ill. The constant thoughts can cause headaches, fatigue, fits of crying, and gastrointestinal issues. Young or old, homesickness should be taken seriously. A few tips for those who may be homesick: find or hold on to routines, ensure that some familiar stuff is around you (this can be as little as a stuffed animal or your favourite sweater), talk about your feelings and look for distractions, and remember that you will always be yourself, regardless of where you are.
