Bats have a bad reputation. People view them as mini-vampires that are blindly flying around looking for blood. That’s mostly a fable. There’s only one species of bat that actually consumes blood, and you don’t have to worry about finding that type of bat in Europe any time soon. Most bats only eat nectar or insects. In the Netherlands the bat-population is rapidly declining. Houses are sturdier and better insulated than they used to be, which means that many bats don’t have a place to put their bed.
