TOLKIEN
J.R.R. Tolkien is often lauded as the founder of the modern fantasy genre. Whether he truly is the founder is debatable, but he certainly was very influential. The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings are still admired by children and adults alike. However, Tolkien was more than just Middle Earth. His friendship and rivalry with C.S. Lewis (The Chronicles of Narnia), the influence of WW1 on Tolkien’s work, and the many mythologies and languages Tolkien created, are still being studied.
