J.R.R. Tolkien is often lauded as the founder of the modern fantasy genre. Whether he truly is the founder is debatable, but he certainly was very influential. Lewis (The Chronicles of Narnia), the influence of WW1 on Tolkien’s work, and the many mythologies and languages Tolkien created, are still being studied.
