quatsch
QUATSCH/NONSENSE
Sometimes something is so stupid, you have to say it in German. Well, if you’re Dutch that is. Quatsch means ‘nonsense’, and is worth 22 points in Scrabble. The word feels a bit weird to say in the Dutch language. This isn’t a big surprise, since the word has its roots in High German and Middle Low German. The word ‘quat’ means ‘evil’, and has nothing to do with your leg muscles or vehicles. Saying something stupid doesn’t always have evil intentions, but can definitely have evil results. Fake news, gossip, quatsch.
